Curious case of I-league 2

Image source Goal.com : Action between Viva Kerala and Malabar United (Mangopeel)
With I league 2008-09 going down the wire and Churchill being champs on last day, Indian football saw one of the best ever seasons in football history of the nation.

The second division is nothing short of excitement.. and With Viva kerala in it, People from south has lot to look forward.

Here is the scenario so far before the fnal round of matches where

Shillong Lajong Plays Salgoancar SC
Viva Kerala plays ONGC FC
Pune FC plays Sesa FC

Pts GP Wins Draws Losses Wins Draws Losses Wins Draws Losses GS GA
Shillong Lajong FC 9 4 3 0 1 2 0 0 1 0 1 7 3
Salgaocar Sports Club 7 4 2 1 1 1 1 0 1 0 1 5 3
ONGC 7 4 2 1 1 1 0 1 1 1 0 3 1
Viva Kerala 6 4 2 0 2 2 0 0 0 0 2 7 6
Pune FC 6 4 2 0 2 2 0 0 0 0 2 4 6
Sesa Football Academy 0 4 0 0 4 0 0 2 0 0 2 2 9

=========================

Considering Sesa is already out and We suppose Pune FC wins

if Salgoncar lose

Viva win .. Salgocar Out
viva lose ... Viva out
draw : Salgocar out

If Salgocar Draw Lajong

Viva win : Salgocar out
Viva lose: Viva out
Draw : Viva out

If Salgocar win

viva win Viva thru ONGC Out
Viva lose Viva out

====================================

but if Sesa wins everything changes !!!!
If Sesa wins : Pune FC is out with Sesa .. no questions..

IF its a draw there it will get more complicated !
Viva goes out if they cant get a point from the other match.

If Viva manages to get a point Pune FC cant get thru even with a draw coz of their goal difference

For VIVA and PuneFC both needs a win

For ONGC haters ... only case of ONGC going out is
Viva win , Salgocar win and PuneFC win

so only 2 cases of Goal difference coming into play is :

if salgoacar loses by 4 goals even if
and Viva ONGC is draw
Pune FC plays draw with Sesa
salgoancar will be out with goal difference
if its less sthan 4, Pune FC will be out

Viva draw ONGC and
Salgocar lose,
with Pune FC win ..
salgoancar might be out by goal difference

in this case if salgoancar loses by 1 goal ... they wil be same points goal diff as viva and then i dont know which will be considered.. if Viva - salgoancar match is considered, then VIva might lose out ..

else if who scored more is considered, viva will go thru ..

If salgoancar loses by 2 goals ... they are out

i guess i have covered all cases now
:)

All the best Viva Kerala!!!

Help Burma Now!

Simon Billenness, The Buddhist Channel, Sept 26, 2007
As you no doubt have seen, Burma is making world headlines because of
the courageous protests of hundreds of thousands of monks and civilians
in at least 26 cities in Burma over the past few weeks. These are the
biggest protests against the abuses of the authoritarian regime in two
decades.
For those of us who care deeply about Burma, these are exhilarating times, but terrifying too. The military junta has threatened to take action if protests continue, and reports from inside Burma already indicate that the military is getting ready to flex its muscle and
begin attacks on protesters.

From the sidelines, the best that we can do is to keep the momentum of this movement alive. There is a real chance for change in Burma, but we need to keep the pressure on.

I know Burma might not be your issue, but today, please make it yours. There are several easy things you can do. If possible, do them right away.

Please extend your support by joining here and upload Red pics to create awareness

This pic was taken at Chinese garden and i had no intetion of uploading this till i stumbled upon this community trhough my flicker friend Lotte Hjorth's photo titled: barred

n the telephone from Rangoon, the businessman sounded desperate.

Street market in Rangoon
For some Burmese, life appears to be returning to normal...

"I have looked everywhere," he said.

"The soldiers took my daughter off the street last week. I don't know if she is injured or what has happened to her. She is 18."

As Burma's military authorities continue to hunt down and arrest those suspected of involvement in last week's massive street protests, the fate of an unknown number of detained monks and civilians remains unclear.

"I have heard that 6,000 people may be missing - that sounds plausible," said one Western diplomat, on condition of anonymity.

A local United Nations official said his office was still looking for several staff members and their families.

A Brand new life of lost loves

I started my blog to know what was it.
I went on with it to improve my writing skills.
I had a dream of doing some online business with a big website which could help people to make their life easy wit h computers. I never knew the things in life change so fast.

I did make a website. then i lost my way.
And it was then one fine girl came into my blog and inspired me to write.
She had a beautiful blog which she closed now and she moved to some other site.

But i dont want to quit blogger.
She left. My blog dried up.
MadV, do help me again, dear.

Now I am living a new life.
A new city.. a new job.. completely new people.
Everything here is new.
The food, the atmosphere, the people. and even the skies.

Striving hard to cope up with the fast life, i had to sacrifice my love.
My love for flickr, my love for soccer, My love for games and my love to sleep.

I am in Singapore, where the sky always has something new in it.
People always are plugged in the ipods.
Nature is man-made.
I miss my dragonflies.
I miss my Paddy fields.
My photostream is now dark with the low light party pics.

Gone are the days when all my pictures were taged and filed under the set Green.
I no more can submit my pics to the Kerala pool of which I am the admin.

With the new life what I lose in life is a lot more than what i gain.
and to add to this, i lost my love. and i lost my mind.

My Experiments with Putt craft and the conclusions

After the fishy business we planned for chicken curry, Since cooking rice for 6 of us at home was tedious, we thought about Putt: the steam cake! Putt was easier to be made so was the best solution since it needs no incredients other than the Putt powder ( sort of fried powdered rice ) that came readymade packets and some Jeera !

So putt was an easy business. Chicken preparation went aside. That was fine, with telephonic support from my mother, all the stuffs were purchased prepared and done as per her rules. Nothing was of much doubty and problematic as our chief cook Pradeep have experience watching the stuff made

Putt was something new to all of us. No one never have been involved in the matter at home. Everytime Putt was made in my home I might have been asleep and I was never interested how the junk breakfast stuff was being made. All I have seen is the steam coming out of the special apparatus: puttkutti. I knew the apparatus had water in the pot below and the rice powder and coconut in the Kutti. Its easy .

So we kept the pot of water to boil, and mixed the powder with little of salt water as per the instructions we had received. “No too much to make it like the chapathi dough, just a bit so that it should still be powdery and should set in shape when a handful was squeezed ”

Seems easy. That was done. Saltwater sprinkled and the powder mixed and the small cap was put in the pipe (kutti). Thanks to Harisree Ashokans comedy in a movie Chronic Bachelor. We never forgot that. Filled the first layer of coconut, and then with the mixture. One after another, so that the 3 pieces were got from one try of putt making.

The pipe was capped and was placed on the pot and we waited for the steam.

After the so called 7 minutes, by the time which the putt will have to be ready, nothing has happened. The steam was to come out of top of the cap of the pipe. And that was not happening. We knew something was wrong. After all, it’s the first time. I called home and asked mother what might have gone wrong. “may be you packed it hard, should have done loosely. Do one thing, punch holes though the cap-holes to let the steam through”

And we did it. Cooked for few more minutes and tried to take it out….. it was still powdery. That was not it is supposed to be. It isn’t so in the hotels, then what went wrong?

The steam had been leaking out of the pot where it was joined with the pipe. So that might be the problem. Lack of steam pressure ? Sp we took a piece of cloth and put it around the mouth of the pot so as to make the joint tight: steam tight.

That worked fine to stop the steam from escaping. Finally steam had to come out through the pipe and the powered to be heated and the nice steamy putt to be baked. We refilled the pot with more water and heated. waited for a few minutes for the steam to come, nothing was happening. As we sense some heat over the pipe, we took it out and still the putt came out as powder.

With chicken curry ready waiting to be eaten, Putt had to be ready in time. And that was not happening. Something was wrong , may be with the vessel. So we switched to plan B. Lets make it in Idli maker !

We filled it with the powder and the coconut stuff instead of idly and started to steam it. Waited for sometime and then took it ans see if the Pudly (Putt + Idly) was ready J

The same old steamed rice powder !

Hell !!!!!

This time the telephonic conference was with Pradeep’s mom. And she said the powder was not enough watered. So THAT was it.

Conclusion no 1:

Not enough water in the mixture can make the putt powdery !

Now we added more water to the mixture and put the stuff on. This time it came up well. Yippe yee ! the putt was coming up fine . finally that happened. Not nice and fine , it was ugly looking one. But a cooked putt hat tastes good.

We moved on to the TV to see if Windies can nail the Kangaroos in ICC champions trophy final, and Pradeep alone in the kitchen. Later he shift was made. This time he asked another one to take over as he went to a quick shower. They made the mix put it on everything was going ok. By that time Pradeep was back and was in the kitchen.

There was some noise and pradeep shouted “Ayyyoo”!

We ran to see that the pot was still there and the Pipe with the Putt was lying down!

The joint was loose and the steam pressure raised the pipe this time and the pipe moved up and fell down ! Steam power ! Yes the same one that ran the older trains.

The expert cook this time made the cloth that was wound much tighter and put the pipe again. This time we could see not the pipe, but the Putt itself raising up !

The steam was so powerful and the joint tight enough so that the steam worked to raise the rice powder and all stuff out of the pipe !

God !

Is this the kitchen or some kinda Heat Engines lab?

Later we made another conclusion :

Conclusion No. 2 :

Wit the steam power, extra water in the mix can kick the Putt our of the pipe !

The trainee chefs added more water to the mix. That was the cause.

Finally This was fixed. We added more powder and adjusted the wetness but this time, the Aluminium Pot which made steam began to leak.

Finally,

Conclusion no: 3

Putt is not the easiest food item to make, and if someone says so, he doesn’t know anything about The great Steam cake of Kerala

After this experience I swear never to look at Putt junk breakfast stuff .

Making putt is a real craft, and making nice good looking Putts are real Gifted craft !

No more the easiest made stuff. I think making chicken curry is easier thing

Its fishy here and they don’t care for the wormie bait !

Last Sunday we went for a jolly trip. Just three of us Pradeep, Mahesh and Me. We went fishing to Akulam. . Nothing professional though !. Got some earthworms from our own compound, and packed them with little mud in a poly-ethene bag (bio-degradable!). Brought few hooks and the twine. And yes, 2 bottles of mineral water ! it was about 1 pm when we reached there. No one else in the serene spot with the beautiful kayal filled with paayal. There was few vanchees traditional boats tied to the nearby coconut palm, which was submerged in the water. It was a beautiful spot to spend the hot afternoon. And there were lot of fishes. We could see the little ones hundreds of them missile-ing around on the surface. And were so happy, dreaming of the heavy hunt and thinking of the bright future!. A Fortune that makes working income from software company look peanuts :D

We hooked the worm and put it in. That was when we saw the true professional fisherman arrive. It was his boat and he lifted few nets that were submerged near to the boat. Those were real jackpots. More than 10 of the karimeen like stuff (frankly I donnno wat that fish was) that he told would fetch him more than Rs 500. We chat with him and he talked about the mighty fish resources in the kayal these days. It has been almost half an hour and we still had nothing to show up with. The little ones swimming around and never minded our little wormie tied to the hook. I could see some coming and picking at the twine. . The Pro told us to take one of his catch, hook it and and take a pic with it.
Frankly, That made more sense.

It was later that he revealed us some secrets of fishing. First of all , he said, it was the time the fishes take a nap and watch the TV serials, they wont mind to have the lunch at 1 pm . and when the sun is shining so much they never do. He told us to try after 5 pm. And they do it almost till 10pm , yes night. And by that time that place will be crowded.

Moreover, the wormie, its just nothing. They use the chicken waste. Yaa all from the oesophagus to gall bladed and the intestine ! They hook those stuffs.
These days fishes feed on chicken. No wonder they dint care for our traditional bait: The earthworm.

The pro went by his boat for a trip. Just to see if anything has been caught in the nets he had laid there overnight. Its that easy, lay the nets, comeback after 12 hours. Do that twice a day and you are richer by thousands!

Santosh Trophy 2006 Kerala drew Maharashtra 1-1

Maharashtra Kerala 1-1

I saw the match after some 18 minutes.
Maharashtra was Leading 1-0
I wondered how MH managed to score. they couldn't even stop the ball.
Kerala players were better. passing well in short passes and moving well.
Looked well organized and good going forward.
Defense was bit weak. Lionel did well. Joby too was good going backward.

Asif Saheer was sheer quality. i never knew he had such potential.

The Kerala goal came about 28th minute when a cross from the midfield was collected by Saheer just in front of the box, there were 3 defenders surrounding him , he managed to hold the ball for few seconds and make a good through pass , perfectly placed for Noushad who came running through the box , he managed to make a first touch bit wider and finish it to the opposite end of the net with ease. And finally Kerala scored a good goal. Worthy to watch.

Whereas our captain Hakkim was as usual, International Waste.
I don't think he should be in the first team and can't guess why is he captain of the team when Pradeep is there. Pradeep was inspiring as usual playing in the right wing.

All these were that for the first half. Kerala was doing well but was needed to create more chances. MH on other had nothing worth mentionable apart from the miss passes and the lack of control. But i think they produced more anxious moments in front of goal. Thanks to the poor defense of Kerala which permitted the ball to bounce around in the BOX.

In the 2nd half all the worst happening. Started with few fouls that may have taken the momentum away from the game.It was dull, worthless gameplay and MH dominated it mostly.

Saheer was again very impressive. Pradeep went out of steam. But still was playing. The team management made a good move by replacing Hakkim in about 62nd minute and bringing in Rafique. Pradeep was still on hte field and I think he was to be substituted. But that never happened. Kerala made another change to by bringing in another striker. But nothing worked out.
And finally they panned for the third change, everything was ready at the 92 nd minute and referee stopped the play. That replacement never happened !
What a wonderful team management !

Maharashtra on the other hand kept attacking.. few corners went across the posts without finding the tall Abhishek Yadav. And finally in the 82nd minute when a cross from left came which bounced in front of the onrushing defender at the near post, Abhiskek was at the far post, the ball crossed the goalkeeper who was ball watching, the defender who was to mark the Forward was too caught ball watching..
the the forwarded rushed to it dived in, and nothing happened. He couldn't connect. had it touched somewhere, It was end of the game for Kerala, who never seemed to have got back the rhythm.

Had the refree been a slight strict, there wont have been 11 players on the field for MH. Refereeing was not bad. But should have been a little more stern.

In the end i feel we were lucky to escape with a Draw.

Intruder goes Pro on Flickr !

At last the inevitable happened. I got a pro account on flickr. Thanks to Anish’s credit card, I was able to do it in seconds.

It was in September 2004, to be more precise on 22nd of September, 2004, that I signed up to the flickr.com. I had my new camera purchased in August 2004, and had some pictures with me which I wanted to upload. As everyone else Yahoo! was one of my main preferences. But I don’t know why, I dint like Yahoo Albums. So I switched to my Webshots.

Webshots desktop wallpaper switcher and gadgets were very famous then. Almost all home PCs had Webshots installed because it had the calendar with good downloadable wallpapers.

I used to read lots of computer magazines those days. Digit, Chip, PC Quest etc. Digit was my favourite. Fortunately for me one of the articles it covered was on photo upload. There were two or three websites mentioned in it. And I tried them one by one. I don’t remember now which all they were. And finally I choose Flickr.com. A decision that I believe that was the perfect.

Flickr had the introductory 3 months free Pro status. Those days the simple and elegant interface gave me a sense that it was intended to be acquired by Google. So I signed up with my Gmail address. But that was a dream that never came true.

Having no restriction to say, the 1 GB or 200 MB transfer limit it was those days I remember. I may be wrong because I never had used it up for a month. And Infinite sets and photos were on cards. But I never used them. I knew those days are being numbered. And getting a paid account on internet was then a distant dream. That too paying in dollars with a credit card was simply Unthinkable to me.

Flickr grew at real pace and was later brought by Yahoo! Inc. I wish they had given Pro account to the existing users for a lifetime or perhaps for 6 months to be more practical. That too didn’t happen. My limit of 200 images were exceeded and my old photos were lost. But for few days I could enjoy it from the archives sections. Later they found out that too 

I lost my Red dragon, My Kayal and was loosing more worthy ones. I couldn’t bear it. I wanted a pro account. I wanted a credit card. I was desperate. That was when it clicked to me : the cost was affordable why can a card stop me ? And with Help of the card from Anish. I am now a Pro

My next post.

After a long while i thought i should post something.
It has been long since this one has been updated.
I'm glad there is no one to complaint.
MadV might be the only one who had been kicking me.
After her mysterious disappearence it has been easy for me.

There were a lot of moments when i thought "i have to scribble on this".
Steve Irwine's demise was one of such unfortunate moments.
The very incident that reminds me of him was the guy clad in khakis jumping as tarzan with help of the creeper ropes, into the nearby dirty pond chasing a reptile, some kind of viper he says was "rare". He chased it, swam with it and from the pond he grabbed it by tail and brought to the camera.

When most of use keeps away from such creepers , chasing and capturing such things required rare skills. and he was such a talent. R.I.P.

Then the very next happened. It was at Monza, hometown of Ferrrari that My hero, Michael Schumacher announced his retirement. It might sound sweet to some jelous Spaniards. But we will miss him. He was the perfect driving machine in the F1 circuit that could excecute the Ferarri's strategy with pin point accuracy and the German spirit.

It was the same day when Martina retired from Tennis. It was a treat to watch her in her days. and wasn't bad till she announced it.

And annoucing the retirement with a Trophy to the cupboard made it more sweet.
That the was the only thing which Agassi missed. He couldnt finish it off with the class which he had.

Agassi always had to fight hard for his titles. At his best times, Pete Sampras was the devil. Then came Roger tHe tennis machine.

It was the Agassi - Sampras matches that made be glued to Tennis. After Sampras, i rarely watch it. Except when i see our own hero Leander Paes is on screen.

Worst Decision of the WC2006 sees Italy through

Aussies kept the ball with them for most of the time in 1st half. And when Italians had the ball, they looked dangerous. It wasn't Luca Toni's day, he missed out few chances which he might have scored normally. It was 0-0 for the first half as expected.

The second half had a big surprise was in store.
When the stand-in defender Materazzi, playing in the absence of Nesta, was given a direct red card, everyone was shocked . A yellow might have been ok.

Playing with 10 men, Italians were in backfoot frequently. The determined soccaroos took the atack again and again. With the massive Viduka held tight by Cameronessi
Aussies lacked the killer instinct in the final third. They kept the possession played short passes, moved on and on but the stubborn Italian defence closed in every time. Buffon had to make few good save.

Italy had to make all their substitutions within the 75 minutes. And Aussies had fresh legs to take over. This made theadvantage swing to the yellow team in extra time.

With Del peiro taken out, Totti showed how good he is to control the ball and give the final pass. But the finishing was still below par. All these added up to hope that the penalty shootout was un avoidable. And we know the italians, they will shoot first 4 kicks to the 4 corners of the post and the fifth, i neednt say it.

Just 10 seconds to go before extra time play, Grosso makes a good run into the Aussie penalty box from left corner , shruggs past the first defender who tries to pul him down, after he enters teh post, second one slides in, but Grosso made the move as if he was expecting it, he turned on hte diving defender, moves away from him and he might have thot "Im in hte box , what if i shoot out ? better i fall here". Then he kicks his leg onto the fallen defender who was lying down with hands raised in helplessness and dives in. Referee whistles. Penalty ! few seconds to end the game.

If there was a rule to book for the diving, It should have been produced then and there. In stead the referee went for the penalty. This was deliberate and had caused Aussies the quarterfinals of a world cup tie.
Where else could you make a bigger blunder. In a recent match one of the referee gave 3 yellow cards , now this to add. Why doesnt the other 3 referees interfere ?
why cant hte tv referee say "Mr., u are wrong ?"

Cool and calm Totti places it well, The Goaliehad guessed right, but the shot had enough sting in it to disturb the net.

And came the final whistle. Good bye Socarros, u did well . Keep ur heads high.

Mysterious Stranger

David Blaine's street magic has always captivated people.
How he does tricks with the cards are all famous
but how does he do that ?

Is it the in his autobiography ? (hope he gives some clues)
anyone read : Mysterious Stranger ?

I dont care about the card tricks, forget it, you need to carry a pack with u , always.
Let me know if we could learn the levitation from somewhere.
:)

That might be worth, especially when u are travelling in a crowded train or bus !
you dont need any space to keep your feet on, just float around !

Added later :

Sweet and Sour stuff in Germany

Wonderful matches.
So appealing in fixture and situation that I was skipped my Gym to watch it

Italy v/s Czech and Ghana v/s USA

I wish i had two TV at home !

Italy needed a Draw to go thru, While it was a do or die situation for their opponents.

Similar situation in the other match with Ghana needing Just a draw, provided Italy comes through in other match, and USA desperately wanted to win. So you think everyone wanted Italy to win ? No. Czechs dint. almost all other did.

And I dint want them to win too. :)
I wanted to see the Czech republic win and go through after their first show against USA, and another best-side-so-far contestant Ghana go though to the quarters.

After seeing hte Italian line up, i was sure they will be presenting the same old story. Ten men walking with the ball in their own half. And it proved to be. it was a setpiece, rather than an expected counter attack that gave them the first goal. a good header from the corner , perfectly placed.

And the best player so far nominee Nedved tried all tricks but Buffon was too smart for him on this day. After reducing to 10 men is 1st half, Czechs chances were out.
Ther ewere few more interesting moments
- Baros had to do a bit more to control hte ross from Nedved, had he , the opener would have been his.
- Inziagi coming on as sub to prove himself and heading out an open chance from 6 yards and goal keeper in awkward postion.
- Inziagi with another chance wasted when he shots across the far post.
- Again the same man under the hammer, running out in open from the touch line with the ball and just the goal keeper to beat, no defernders , no pressure .. he was accompanied by a team mate , but never bothered to pass (typical of him), takes on the keeper and beats Peter Czech. Had that gone out, it would have been his last international cap.
- Gattuso runs on to the bench and grabs the Italian Coach's neck while the italians were celebrating the goal. (May be for getting Inziagi onto the field )

2-0 RIP to Czech worldcup. I am sorry. I believed they would make it to the quarters

Well Same time a better match was on hte other side. Frequent swapping was needed to ensure i dint miss all actions.

Reyna gave away the ball, and the goal. well finished.
Good cross from Johnson after a rare ghanan defence error, a powerful blow that the goal keeper was lucky to get out of hte way. 1 -1
But too little time to celebrate for the US as Ghana won a penalty, 2-1 end of an american story.

Now wat. Ghana taking on Brazil. wil the safari end there ? Hope not and hte lackluster Brazilians with out of sync samba tunes humming waywardly give way to the spirited Ghanas working well as team and fighting hard. That would be better for the game.

Happy for Ghana, sad for Czechs.
Italians need to do more.

Without Robhinho in starting lineup , u expect out of form Ronaldo to score ? Last match ball was bouncing off him! It couldnt guide the ball, not he couldnt connect a shot.

Good fixtures to look forward to :
Argentina - Mexico
Brazil - Ghana
Holland playing Portugal
and more on way
